The sliced 1/2 strawberry wasn't particularly evident in the flavor of the cocktail, no, but it did make the drink pretty. Perhaps a quick muddle next time.

Did the strawberry enter the flavor profile or was it just a garnish that caught bubbles and floated up and down? I remember the almond extract comment but lost track of what it was referring to (I figured it was a rum substitution question).

Nice wrap-up. During an evening of champagne cocktails with the wife I did mix up Dr. Bamboo's Ambar Sol a couple days after TDN. I used prosecco, adding a drop of almond extract as had been suggested in the forum that evening to approximate the flavor profile of the cava. It was pretty tasty and will get revisited I'm sure.

Some good looking highballs came out of TDN last week. Had I not been on chaperone duties at the cinema sitting through a 24 hour Harry Potter movie Marathon with my teenage daughter and her friends, I would have joined in with this simple but enjoyable summer offering:

Puerto Rican Rain Barrel:

• 2 oz. moderately aged PR gold rum (strongly recommend Ron del Barrilito 2 Star)
• 4 oz. coconut water (fresh if possible, canned unsweetened otherwise)
• 1 tsp. simple syrup.

Shake on ice, pour unstrained into highball glass. Add straw and garnsih with toasted coconut slice.

Thanks for the wrap-up. Awesome. I've since refined my Choke Let Malt for MxMo to make it more cocktail-like and better balanced:
1 1/2 oz Scotch
1 1/2 oz Cynar
1 oz Pale ale, dry
1 dash bitter (mole if you like)

Cheers!
