TDN: Herb — Vote for your favorite!

Herbs can be used to add a special, fresh flavor to your cocktails, so we decided to experiment with them. Here’s the best drinks of the TDN: Herb inventions. Be sure to vote for your favorite!

Lemon Stinger Swizzle

  • 10 lemon balm leaves
  • 0.5 ounces simple syrup
  • 0.5 ounces falernum
  • 2 ounces gin
  • juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1 dash Fee’s lemon bitters (optional)
  • Peychaud’s bitters

Muddle 10 lemon balm leaves with 0.5 ounce simple. Add 0.5 ounces falernum, 2 ounces gin, juice of half a lemon, optional dash Fees lemon bitters.Shake with ice,strain onto new crushed ice, top with several dashes Peychauds.

Sailor’s Salvation

  • 0.5 oz Clement VSOP (sub good rum)
  • 0.5 oz Appleton Extra
  • 0.5 oz Lemon Hart 151 (sub more whatever)
  • 0.5 oz lemon
  • 0.5 oz lime
  • 0.5 oz cinnamon syrup
  • 0.5 oz vanilla syrup
  • 8 drops Root (sub absinthe)
  • 4 leaves basil
  • 4 leave mint
  • 1 dash Bitter Truth aromatic bitters (sub Ango)

Shake to the rolling of the waves and serve in your best grog cup

Salvatrix

  • 2 ounces Rye,
  • 2 t Benedictine
  • 1 t Orgeat
  • 2 dashes Fee’s Whisky Barrel Aged Bitters
  • 2 Sage Leaves.

Lightly muddle leaves, add ice, stir. Up.

Early Evening Cocktail

  • 1 spring thyme
  • 0.5 ounces simple syrup
  • 0.5 ounces honey mix
  • 1 small drop pimento dram
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 2 ounces El Dorado 3 year cask aged rum

Muddle a sprig of thyme, 0.5 oz simple, 0.5 oz honey,1 small drop pimento dram. add rest of ingredients. Shake, strain,serve in rocks glass with crushed ice and a sprig of thyme.

Mestizo

  • 2 Tablespoons cilantro leaves
  • 2 cardamom pods
  • 1 sugar cube
  • 0.75 oz lime juice
  • 1.5 oz reposado tequila

muddle cilantro, pods, and sugar in lime juice, add tequila, shake with vigor, strain into cocktail glass.
